Helping Your Dental Veneers Last the Test of Time
Dental veneers at Majidian Dental are a popular way to achieve a bright, confident smile. Whether you have porcelain or composite veneers, proper care is essential to maintain their appearance and extend their lifespan. The good news? Taking care of veneers is simple and fits easily into your daily routine.
Maintain a Strong Oral Hygiene Routine
Just because veneers aren’t natural teeth doesn’t mean they don’t require regular care. In fact, keeping your surrounding teeth and gums healthy is key to protecting your investment. Brush at least twice a day using a soft-bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste. Abrasive products can scratch the surface of veneers, dulling their shine over time. Floss daily to remove plaque and debris between teeth, and consider using an alcohol-free mouthwash to support gum health.
Be Mindful of What You Eat and Drink
While veneers are durable, they’re not indestructible. Avoid biting into very hard foods like ice, hard candies, or popcorn kernels, as these can chip or crack your veneers. It’s also wise to limit foods and drinks that can stain, especially if you have composite veneers. Coffee, tea, red wine, and dark-colored sauces can gradually affect the color of your smile. If you do enjoy these, rinsing your mouth with water afterward can help reduce staining.
Avoid Bad Habits That Cause Damage
Certain habits can shorten the lifespan of your veneers. Nail biting, chewing on pens, or using your teeth as tools (like opening packages) can put unnecessary stress on them. If you grind or clench your teeth, especially at night, talk to our team about a custom nightguard. Grinding can wear down or damage veneers over time, but a simple protective appliance can make a big difference.
Keep Up With Regular Dental Visits
Routine dental checkups are essential for maintaining veneers. Your dentist will monitor their condition, check your bite, and ensure your gums remain healthy. Professional cleanings also help remove plaque buildup and keep your veneers looking their best. Be sure to let your dental team know you have veneers so they can use the appropriate tools and techniques during your visit.
Protect Your Smile During Activities
If you play sports or engage in physical activities, wearing a mouthguard is highly recommended. Accidental impacts can damage both natural teeth and veneers, so protection is key. Even everyday activities can pose a risk. Being mindful of how you use your teeth helps preserve both function and appearance.
Enjoy a Long-Lasting, Beautiful Smile
With proper care, veneers can last 10 to 15 years or even longer. By maintaining good oral hygiene, avoiding harmful habits, and staying consistent with dental visits, you can keep your smile looking bright and natural.
If you notice any changes, such as sensitivity, rough edges, or looseness, contact our team promptly. Early attention can prevent more serious issues and keep your veneers in excellent condition for years to come.
Majidian Dental Supports the Red River Valley Access Project
Giving back is a core part of who Majidian Dental is, and one way our team embodies this value is by volunteering with the Red River Valley Dental Access Project in Moorhead, MN. This local initiative plays a vital role in helping people who might otherwise go without dental care, especially individuals and families with limited incomes or without dental insurance. We’re honored to support its mission and grateful for the opportunity to serve our community beyond the walls of our office.
The Red River Valley Dental Access Project was established in 1999 by a group of dentists seeking to enhance access to care in the area. Recognizing the barriers faced by low-income patients, a volunteer walk-in clinic was established in 2002 to provide humanitarian relief to those in need. Over the past 17 years, the project has built a network of around 50 volunteer dentists who have assisted over 8,000 patients.
For many people, dental care can feel out of reach. When budgets are tight, routine cleanings and exams often get pushed aside in favor of more immediate necessities. Unfortunately, delaying dental treatment can allow small issues, such as cavities or gum inflammation, to develop into more severe, painful, and expensive problems. The Red River Valley Dental Access Project helps bridge that gap by connecting patients with compassionate providers and necessary services, allowing them to receive the care they deserve in a respectful and welcoming environment.
When our team volunteers, we offer a wide range of services, including preventive checkups and cleanings, as well as restorative treatments when needed. Just as important, we focus on education, helping patients understand how to protect their oral health at home and why consistent care matters.
Volunteering with this project reminds us that oral health is about more than a bright smile; it’s tied to overall well-being. Dental infections can impact heart health, diabetes management, and even daily confidence. When someone can finally address a long-standing dental concern, the relief and renewed self-esteem can be life-changing. Seeing those moments firsthand is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do.
We’re proud to stand alongside the Red River Valley Dental Access Project and other community partners in our efforts to make dental care more accessible. If you’d like to learn more about this initiative, are interested in supporting local programs that expand access to care, or could benefit from care provided (or know someone who can), please reach out to our office or contact the Red River Valley Dental Access Project at (218) 790-7790 or RRdentalaccess@gmail.com. Together, we can help ensure that everyone in our region has the opportunity to enjoy a healthier smile.
CEREC Crowns Offer a Quick and Comfortable Solution
When a tooth becomes damaged or decayed, fractured, or you just had a root canal, a dental crown can restore the tooth’s strength, shape, and function. Traditionally, getting a crown took multiple appointments, temporary crowns, and a waiting period for a dental lab to create the final product. However, with CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) technology at Majidian Dental, you can receive a high-quality, custom crown in just one visit.
The CEREC Crown Process
- Examination and Preparation: The procedure begins with a dental evaluation to determine if a CEREC crown is the right solution. If approved, the dentist will prepare your tooth by removing any decay or damaged areas and shaping it for the crown.
- Digital Impressions: Instead of traditional gooey impressions, CEREC uses a small intraoral camera to take digital scans of your teeth. These 3D images are highly accurate and help design a perfectly fitted crown on-site.
- Custom Design with CAD/CAM Technology: Your dentist will design the crown in the office using specialized CAD/CAM software. This process is fast, precise, and tailored to match your bite, tooth color, and shape.
- Milling the Crown On-Site: The design is sent to the CEREC milling unit, which crafts your crown from a solid ceramic block. This process usually takes about 15–20 minutes, and you can often watch it being created!
- Fitting and Placement: Once milled, the crown is polished, color-matched, and tried in to ensure proper fit and bite. Minor adjustments are made if needed. The crown is then bonded to your tooth using a strong dental adhesive.
Benefits of CEREC Same-Day Crowns
- Convenience: Complete your treatment in one visit—no need for temporaries or second appointments.
- Comfort: Digital impressions are more comfortable and accurate than traditional molds.
- Durability: CEREC crowns are made from high-quality ceramic, offering excellent strength and longevity.
- Natural Appearance: The crown is custom-shaded to blend seamlessly with your surrounding teeth.
- Time-Saving: Ideal for busy patients who want quality care without multiple trips to the dentist.
If you need a crown and value efficiency, comfort, and quality, CEREC same-day crowns may be the perfect solution for restoring your smile. Contact our team for more information today!
